A gas leak in downtown Ebensburg yesterday, led to extensive repairs and evacuations for nearby residents and businesses. The incident began yesterday morning when a construction crew reportedly hit a medium-pressure gas line while digging near Caroline and East High Streets. The leak prompted the evacuation of over a dozen businesses and homes along the 200 and 300 blocks of High Street, including the county courthouse. By 2:00 p.m. the gas leak was under control. Officials confirmed there was no immediate danger to the public.
