A Blair County jury has found a Tyrone man, 22-year-old Christopher Beck, guilty of sexual assault and other related charges, while acquitting him of rape, involving a former teenage girlfriend, after five hours of deliberation yesterday. After the jury delivered its guilty verdicts, prosecutors requested that the court revoke Beck’s bail. Assistant District Attorney Nicholas Mays reportedly stated that with another pending case in Blair County, Beck was a threat to the community. In response, defense argued that Beck was not a flight risk, as he had always attended his court dates. The judge reportedly increased Beck’s total bail to a $100,000 secured bond, converting his previous $50,000 unsecured bonds in each of the two cases. Beck is tentatively slated to be sentenced in January.
