More details have emerged regarding the strangulation death of a Philipsburg woman over the weekend.  Authorities report that following a dispute over a nude photograph, 74-year-old Alan Reed allegedly admitted to fatally beating and strangling his wife, 57-year-old Dawn M. Reed, at their home in Rush Township, Centre County.  According to authorities, Alan Reed was taken into custody after police discovered his wife’s body during a welfare check on Saturday.  Reportedly, family members received alarming text messages from Alan Reed, in which he claimed to have beaten his wife, and expressed concern that she may have been killed.  Troopers observed Alan Reed inside the house with blood on his hands and shirt. He was detained while officers conducted a search and found Dawn Reed’s body, which appeared to have been severely beaten.  During an interview with police, Reed allegedly confessed to killing his wife.  He said an argument over a missing nude photo, which he had used as leverage, escalated into a physical confrontation.   Reed has been charged with criminal homicide and strangulation.  He remains in the Centre County Prison without bail.  His preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 5th.
