Next week’s election features a ballot that asks voters whether to retain three Justices on Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court. They are Kevin Dougherty, Christine Donohue and David Wecht, all three being Democrats. Republicans have been very critical of the three for upholding Governor Tom Wolf’s Covid shutdowns, which hurt many businesses throughout the commonwealth. Many Republicans believe the three have acted more like politicians and less like justices. On the other side, the judges are reportedly supported by unions, and many trial lawyers in the state. If any of these judges, who serve ten-year-terms, aren’t retained this year, voters won’t pick a long-term replacement until 2027. Reportedly, both Republicans and Democrats are pouring millions into the Pennsylvania Supreme Court election. Next week’s election is on Tuesday.
