The Cambria County District Attorney’s Office has welcomed a new K-9 officer, Blitz, a German Shepard from Belgium. Blitz was officially sworn in during a ceremony yesterday at the courthouse in Ebensburg. In just his first month of service, Blitz has already been involved in 14 narcotics-related cases. His role in the DA’s office will support search and seizure warrants for other law enforcement agencies throughout Cambria County. Blitz was purchased and trained with financial assistance from the K9 Titan’s Watch Foundation. The foundation was established in memory of Johnstown Police Department K-9 Officer Titan, who was killed in the line of duty in 2020. The foundation also helped cover Blitz’s veterinary expenses at the Ebensburg Animal Hospital. The total cost of the dog and training was approximately $15,000.
