Female Case Worker And Nurse File Suit Against Blair County Prison

prison-3

Two women are accusing Blair County Prison staff of civil rights violations stemming from separate incidents in September of 2023.  According to WJAC News, a 77-page lawsuit alleges that prison staff forced the women, a case manager and a nurse, to partially undress in front of male guards after the underwire in their bras set off metal detectors.  The incidents allegedly took place in the prison lobby, where inmates could witness the women’s partial undressing.  Both women were then reportedly forced to carry their bras around the facility.  According to the lawsuit, staff denied the women’s requests for a private room to change, a search by female staff, or the use of a handheld metal detector.  In regards to this class-action suit, Blair County Commissioners reportedly have acknowledged that a response will be made in court.
