Former Somerset County Magisterial District Judge candidate Amy Thomas is facing over 100 criminal charges, including felonies for identity theft, following a police investigation into claims that she forged signatures on her ballot petitions during her 2025 campaign.  According to police affidavits, Thomas is facing 19 counts of identity theft, and other related counts.  The investigation began in March after her opponent, Kayla Kormanik-Lucas, reported discrepancies between signatures on both candidates’ nominating petitions.  Investigators with the Pennsylvania State Police found that 46 electors’ signatures had reportedly been forged on Thomas’s Republican and Democratic petitions, with issues including misspelled names, wrong last names, or incorrect addresses listed.  Thomas was arraigned on the charges, and is free on bail.
