Somerset County Sheriff, 46-year-old Dustin Weir, has been charged with one misdemeanor count of corruption of minors after being accused of making explicit remarks and actions toward a 15-year-old girl during a “Shop with a Cop” event last December at a local Walmart. Weir allegedly took the girl to the condom aisle, attempted to photograph her next to the products, and asked her explicit questions about her sexual experiences. He also allegedly made comments about what he would do if he were her boyfriend. Investigators viewed messages in a work-related group chat where Weir allegedly made other sexually inappropriate comments about the victim. Surveillance video from the Walmart reportedly corroborates the victim’s account of being taken to the condom aisle. Weir and his attorney deny what they call “baseless” allegations, claiming they stem from a “disgruntled” former employee, who is the victim’s mother, that Weir had fired earlier. The case is to be prosecuted by the State Attorney General’s Office.
