Uncensored America, a conservative student organization, filed a federal lawsuit against Penn State last month, alleging the university systematically suppressed the group’s speech through unwritten policies that impose “prior restraint” based on anticipated viewpoints. The lawsuit details two events as examples, including the cancellation of a speaking event in 2022 featuring controversial commentators. Penn State has not commented on the lawsuit. The plaintiffs are asking the court to declare the school’s rules unconstitutional, stop it from limiting events based on viewpoint, and order the university to pay damages.
