Authorities in Centre County report a Bellefonte woman is facing felony charges of embezzling over one-million dollars from a the Nittany Learning Center in Pleasant Gap. Spring Township police identified the suspect as 46-year-old Carri Roan, who reportedly confessed to stealing the money to cover personal medical debt. According to the police affidavit, the investigation began in September after the organization, which offers educational services across several counties, reported significant financial discrepancies and shortfalls. Investigators determined that Roan had been in charge of the Nittany Learning Center’s finances and had allegedly altered the company’s accounts to facilitate the theft. During the investigation, police say Roan sent a lengthy message to one of the company’s owners, admitting to the alleged embezzlement.
