Fourteen-year-old Judah Courtney, of Cambria County, entered a plea of not guilty to his double homicide charges, a shift from earlier reports that he had admitted the murder to police. Courtney is accused of stabbing his mother and a family friend to death in their Carrolltown home in September. During his first appearance in court yesterday, Courtney’s attorneys requested a private proceeding to review his children and youth records from the days immediately preceding the incident. They disclosed that following an unspecified incident, Courtney had been taken to UPMC Altoona, and that Blair County Children, Youth and Families became involved; no further details were publicly released.
