Folks driving in Pennsylvania and across the commonwealth in the coming weeks are being encouraged to keep safety in mind. Pennsylvania State Police have launched Operation Safe Holiday — an effort to promote the use of safety belts and to reduce impaired driving. The effort runs through January 1st and will include sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols. PennDOT Executive Deputy Secretary Larry Shifflet says the operation is not about issuing tickets, but is about saving lives.
