Several organizations in Altoona have received over 67-thousand dollars in grant funding from Norfolk Southern to support their operations. The grants were issued through the company’s Thriving Communities and Safety First programs. The money will be used for things like purchasing more tools for firefighters, and maintaining local museums. Organizations that received grants included:
- Lakemont Volunteer Fire Company
- Logan Township United Fire Department
- Railroaders Heritage Corporation
- Blair EMA UAV (Drone) Program
- Board of Supervisors of Allegheny
Norfolk Southern reported that it has distributed nearly one-million dollars across Pennsylvania.
