A pre-trial hearing continued yesterday on what was the one year anniversary of the arrest of Luigi Mangione in the shooting death of a UnitedHealthcare CEO in New York City. Mangione was arrested by Altoona Police after he was discovered eating at McDonald’s on Plank Road. Defense lawyers are trying to get a judge to toss out a lot of evidence including the alleged murder weapon, claiming Mangione’s rights were violated during his arrest in Altoona. Meanwhile, prosecutors are releasing more evidence that officers found on Mangione including several notes, a knife, a passport and electronics. Mangione’s lawyers say evidence, including a gun was unlawfully seized. The hearing is scheduled to resume today with testimony from other officers, including supervisors, who were at the McDonald’s.
