Homegrown Rocker Playlist/Recap 11/2/25 (Kevin Briggs)

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 2 edition of “The Homegrown Rocker,” which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!

We welcomed another guest into our studio this week, as State College-based singer, songwriter and music creator Kevin Briggs joined us! Kevin recently issued his self-titled debut album. We discussed the album and his musical career, and played songs from the album as well. Kevin also brought an acoustic song and played some of his songs live on the air! We also debuted a new song from Walkney, and dug out a 1980 song by State College’s Backseat Van Gogh for this week’s “Local Music Flashback!” (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94’s website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on “The Professor’s Classroom,” and then scroll down to “Homegrown Rocker Podcast” and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 110225.)

In Local Music News…

An area musician has been nominated for an international award. Clearfield County native Ryan Saupp has earned a nomination at the 2025 Josie Music Awards, one of the world’s largest independent music award shows celebrating talent across multiple genres. The ceremony is taking place tonight (November 2) at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. Good luck to Ryan.

The Altoona area music scene was saddened in recent days by news of the passing of Tom Keith at age 56. Tom was a familiar face on area stages in the 1990s and early 2000s as a bass player and acoustic performer. Tom was a bass player and backing vocalist with Altoona heavy-rocking juggernaut Korruption during the 1990s, and was half of that group’s acoustic side project Acoustic Brew. Tom also played bass for the band Radio Star and other projects.

And a website that served the area music scene for more than 25 years is no more. The Rockpage website was dismantled earlier this summer. Introduced in the late 1990s by Ron Nearhoof, Rockpage served as a valuable resource for area musicians, where bands and artists could set up home pages and promote their upcoming shows, search for new members and form new bands, sell and purchase instruments and gear, and also converse about musical and other topics of the day. Rockpage saw a fast reduction in use once social media rose in prominence, but still had a handful of users in recent years until the plug was pulled on the website during the past summer.
