AMED To Raise Ambulance Transport Fees

The AMED board approved a 3.8% increase in ambulance transport charges on Monday as part of its 2026 budget.  This marks the first rate hike for the organization in three years.  The adjustment is intended to keep pace with rising operational costs.  While a recent increase in Medicaid reimbursements allowed the organization to delay this hike, a  nearly 17%  surge in employee medical insurance premiums through UPMC Health Plan, made the 2026 adjustment necessary.
