The Altoona Water Authority board has approved a 2.78% rate increase for 2026, consistent with its rolling 10-year financial plan. Beginning in January, the average customer using 4,000 gallons per month will see their combined monthly bill rise by $3.65, bringing the total to $135. The adjustment is driven entirely by an 8.5% increase in the fixed-cost portion of sewer charges. Under the current long-term plan, average monthly bills are projected to reach $170 by 2033.
