Bedford County has approved its 2026 budget, which includes a significant tax increase of approximately 22%. The tax hike, is expected to cost homeowners with a median assessed property value of around $109,000, an additional $9 to $10 per month. Commissioner Deb Baughman reportedly identified rising employee health insurance costs, salary increases, pension funding, and upcoming costly capital projects as the primary drivers behind the need for more tax revenue.
