Republican Rick Scott of Florida, and a Democratic colleague are joining forces on a new bill to protect investors. Senator Scott and Pennsylvania Democrat John Fetterman introduced the Disclosing Investment in Foreign Adversaries Act on Monday. The goal is to provide transparency into investments made by American private equity firms into countries of concern, like Russia or China. Companies will be required to disclose to the SEC, the percentage of any assets invested in those countries. Scott says Americans deserve to know if their hard-earned savings and retirement savings are being invested into US adversaries.
