Yesterday, the Cambria County commissioners approved a 2026 budget that includes a 6.75-mill property tax increase. The budget passed 2-1, with Commissioner Tom Chernisky casting the opposing vote. Reportedly the average homeowner will now see an annual increase of $71.58 in their property tax bills. The increase is intended to close a $14 million gap between estimated general fund revenues and expenses for the $68.7 million budget.
