An Altoona man is being held without bail following a violent assault on Sunday that left a woman with severe facial injuries. Arrested by city police was 28-year-old Alpatchino Jeune. According to the criminal complaint, the assault occurred at a residence on the 2100 block of 11th Avenue. The victim told investigators that Jeune became enraged during a discussion about her birthday plans. He allegedly pinned her down and punched her repeatedly in the face. When she gasped that she could not breathe, Jeune reportedly stood on her throat and threatened her with a pocketknife, vowing to kill her. He has been charged with assault and strangulation, and placed in the Blair County Prison where bail has been denied. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 7th.
