Last Friday morning, family and friends gathered in Courtroom No. 1 of the Blair County Courthouse to witness a group of elected officials take their oaths of office. While many officials were returning incumbents, the ceremony marked a critical turning point for the Blair County Court of Common Pleas, which has operated with a full five-judge bench for only six months over the last four years. This judicial gap was officially filled with the swearing-in of two new members; former State Representative Lou Schmitt and former Magisterial District Judge Paula Aigner. Aigner reportedly noted how excited she was to “get to work,” and Schmitt noted how excited he was to serve the people of Blair County.
