Shapiro Condemns Trump’s Seizure Of Venezuelan President

wrta-logo-sm

Governor Josh Shapiro condemned the Trump administration’s seizure of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, labeling the move “crazy” and a “bully’s weakness.” While Shapiro described Maduro as a “bad actor,” he argued that the U.S. intervention risks a costly, oil-motivated nation-building effort and sets a dangerous international precedent.  He further cautioned that such actions—including the potential for military engagement—could inadvertently embolden adversaries like Russia, China, and Iran. Shapiro’s remarks followed President Trump’s recent indictment and seizure of the Venezuelan leader, which signaled a shift toward more aggressive U.S. interventionism.
