PennDOT is alerting motorists to expect significant delays in Blair and Cambria counties through this Friday, due to the transport of 12 “superload” wind turbine blades. The transport schedule and route details include: Three loads departing daily at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., and 10 a.m. The shipments will travel from Clearfield County via I-80 to I-99 South, continuing through Centre and Blair counties. Their final destination will see the loads exit I-99 at Exit 23 (Roaring Spring/Portage) and travel via Route 164 to Route 2010 (Frankstown Road) to reach the Highland North Wind Farm near Beaverdale, in Cambria County. These massive loads occupy two lanes and move slowly. While they will periodically pull over to vent trailing traffic, drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
