Yesterday the owner of the Galleria Mall in Johnstown met with officials in an attempt to seek solutions after the mall’s electric bill nearly doubled in one month, increasing from $52,000 to over $100,000. Discussions with a state senator and energy suppliers have explored options like diversified energy strategies and potential state assistance programs for energy efficiency upgrades. Mall owner, Leo Karruli told officials yesterday that increases such as the one he recently experienced could force the mall to shut down.
