Governor Josh Shapiro is joining leaders from a dozen other U.S. states who are calling for energy cost protections for consumers. Shapiro recently signed a petition to PJM Interconnection, the company that controls the power grid for Pennsylvania along with a number of other states. He and the other governors are asking PJM to provide electricity price certainty for a period of 15 years and to focus on additional energy production. The officials are also directing the company to pass on electricity costs for new data centers to the owners and not to residential customers.
