Harris Vetting Team Asked PA Gov., If He Spied for Israel

shapiro-4

In his new memoir, “Where We Keep the Light: Stories from a Life of Service,” Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro details a contentious vetting process for the 2024 vice presidential nomination.  According to the book, a member of Kamala Harris’s vetting team—specifically former White House counsel Dana Remus—asked the following questions that Shapiro found highly offensive: “Have you ever been an agent of the Israeli government, and “Have you ever communicated with an undercover agent of Israel”?  Shapiro expressed disbelief at the line of questioning, wondering if he was being singled out as the only Jewish candidate in the final running.  The vetting team allegedly defended the questions by stating, “Well, we have to ask”.  Shapiro eventually concluded that while Remus was “just doing her job,” the fact that such questions were authorized “said a lot about some of the people around the VP”.
