A devastating early morning house fire in Curwensville, Clearfield County, claimed the lives of 16 pets yesterday morning. Fire crews were dispatched to the 600 block of Filbert Street just before 6:00 a.m. to find the residence engulfed in flames. First responders faced significant challenges as they battled the inferno in extreme sub-zero temperatures. While all family members managed to escape the home without injury, a relative confirmed that 14 cats and two dogs perished in the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
