In Somerset County, 33-year-old parents David and Crystal Wilhelm are facing felony charges of endangering the welfare of children after their 2-year-old daughter was hospitalized for severe malnutrition and neglect. According to Children and Youth Services, the investigation began last June after reports that the couple failed to provide basic necessities for their three children. Although the Wilhelms initially accepted assistance from CYS, investigators say they eventually cut off communication with support services. Both defendants are currently held in the Somerset County Prison in lieu of bail. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 3rd.
