PennDOT crews are preparing for a winter storm that could drop anywhere from 8-12 inches of snow in our region. PennDOT plans to deploy crews ahead of the storm. The massive storm is expected to have an impact on 235-million Americans across 40 states ranging from New Mexico to Connecticut. Very cold temps are expected to hit the area beginning today as temps fall throughout the day, with weekend highs around 14 above. The snow is expected to arrive in our area Saturday night, with major impacts on roads being felt on Sunday. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for all of Central Pennsylvania, Saturday night at 10 until Monday afternoon at 1. Travel could be very difficult, to impossible during that time. Hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. It is possible we could even see some sleet on Monday morning as well. The National Weather Service is advising people to consider delaying travel, and motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.
