A 39-year-old Tyrone man identified as Dennis Dittsworth, has been jailed following a months-long investigation into the July 2025 overdose death of 39-year-old Daniel Gurekovich.  Investigators with the Tyrone Borough Police Department state that Gurekovich was found dead in his Blair Avenue home after a witness reported seeing him “chewing on” a plastic strip before suffering cardiac arrest.  An autopsy confirmed the cause of death was a fentanyl overdose.  Police discovered text messages where Dittsworth allegedly admitted to selling the fentanyl strips to the victim, purportedly writing, “It is my fault, but it’s also his too.”  Dittsworth is currently held at the Blair County Prison on $250,000 bail, facing felony charges of drug delivery resulting in death, and reckless endangerment.  His preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 3rd.
