Caleb McCoy, a 37-year-old registered nurse, has been named the Democratic nominee for the upcoming special election on March 17 to fill the 79th District state House seat. The seat was vacated by Republican Lou Schmitt, who resigned to serve as a Blair County judge. McCoy, a political newcomer with a conservative upbringing, and former libertarian leanings, was selected during a recent Blair County Democratic Committee Zoom session.
