A Johnstown teen has pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter yesterday in connection to the fatal shooting of 17-year-old high school student, Syrina Ryneri. The plea deal involving Kaden Woodring, resolves several original charges including criminal homicide and aggravated assault. Woodring faces a maximum of five years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for April in Cambria County Court. The shooting occurred in November of 2024 at a residence on Sheridan Street in Johnstown. Raneri had arrived to pick up friends from a social gathering when Woodring allegedly pointed a rifle at her and said, “You know I’m playing,” and pulled the trigger. While prosecutors determined the act was unintentional, they classified it as “grossly negligent”.
