A fall date has been set for the federal trial of accused killer Luigi Mangione.  Jury selection will begin on September 8th with opening arguments in the federal case set for October 13th.  The 27-year-old Maryland man is charged with killing UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024 in Midtown Manhattan.  Meantime, local prosecutors have been pushing for Mangione’s state trial to begin on July 1st.  They want to go first.  The Ivy League graduate, his lawyers and prosecutors are being summoned to New York State Supreme Court this Friday, possibly for a ruling on a state trial date.   Mangione has pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges.
