State officials say millions of birds are affected by avian flu in Lancaster County.  The Department of Agriculture said infections were recently detected in two commercial flocks and seven backyard flocks with a total bird count of close to two-point-three-million.  They said most of the birds were connected to a “commercial table egg layer.”  According to the USDA, avian flu rates typically increase in the spring and fall as birds migrate.
