Apartment Fire In Altoona Yesterday

Firefighters in Altoona responded to an apartment building fire yesterday afternoon on the 1700 block of 8^th Avenue, marking the area’s fourth fire in as many days.  The fire broke out shortly after 3:00 within a wall between two second-floor units.  Fortunately, all residents evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.  The building is reported to have sustained nearly $25,000 in damage.  Cause of the fire is under investigation.  On Friday a trailer was destroyed by fire in Lakemont, on Saturday afternoon an accidental kitchen fire at a 6^th Avenue home required the rescue of a male occupant, and an accidental electrical fire on 21^st Avenue on Sunday resulted in one individual being displaced.
