There are reports that streets in Philipsburg began reopening shortly after midnight, though Pennsylvania State Police remained on the scene following an 11-hour armed standoff. The incident began around 12:30 yesterday afternoon when troopers attempted to serve a search warrant related to alleged sex abuse charges against 54-year-old Ian Stephenson. Stephenson reportedly barricaded himself inside an apartment on N. 2nd Street. State police deployed a battering-ram vehicle to break the apartment’s windows, and used a drone to monitor the interior. Drone footage revealed Stephenson was injured and bleeding, and was in possession of a knife and multiple firearms. Authorities reported hearing “popping sounds” from inside the residence that were suspected to be gunfire. We spoke with State Police at Rockview this morning, and they did not officially confirm whether the suspect is in custody, or what his current medical condition is.
