The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has disbarred Renee Piper following her resignation from the bar, a move triggered by her conviction in a “horrific” animal cruelty case in Bedford County. Piper and her husband, Nyal, were sentenced to up to 40 years in state prison after nearly 90 dogs and cats were rescued from their home in early 2024. Following a state police investigation into the widespread abuse and neglect, both defendants pled no contest to the charges.
