Pennsylvania Democrats will remain in control of the State House after victories in two special elections last night, including one in Lehigh County. Ana Tiburcio appears to have defeated Republican Robert E. Smith Junior in the race for House District 22. The office was held by Josh Siegel before he resigned to take office as Lehigh County Executive. Democrats also won the special election for House District 42 in Allegheny County, doubling their narrow majority in the chamber from two seats to four.
