A state appellate court has once again upheld the conviction of George Ishler Jr., the man found guilty of murdering Penn State professor Ronald Bettig. In 2016, Ishler pushed Bettig off a Centre County quarry cliff, and left him to die. Investigators determined Ishler conspired with Bettig’s friend, Danelle Geier, to carry out the killing. While Ishler recently attempted to appeal his life sentence by claiming his confession was coerced, and seeking police interview footage via a Right-to-Know request, the Commonwealth Court rejected the filing. Both Ishler and Geier continue to serve life sentences for first-degree murder.
