Yesterday, in a major consolidation effort, the Hope, Reliance, and Chester Hill Fire Companies in the Philipsburg area officially took the next step toward a full merger. Reportedly, the Reliance Station will serve as the primary hub, housing the department’s three main fire units. Support vehicles will continue to be staged at the existing Hope and Chester Hill Stations. Officials plan to consolidate all operations into a single, new fire station in Philipsburg to serve the borough and surrounding townships. The formal legal merger will be fianlized at the end of this year, pending state approval.
