An Altoona woman is behind bars after allegedly attacking a man with a hatchet while he slept early yesterday morning in Antis Township. Pennsylvania State Police report that 27-year-old Carrie Yarnell reportedly struck the victim in the head at a local residence. When troopers arrived, the victim was being treated by EMS, and Yarnell had already fled to the Tyrone Hospital. The police affidavit notes that while at the hospital Yarnell told hospital staff that the victim had allegedly sexually assaulted her. Yarnell is currently held at the Blair County Prison without bail, facing multiple counts that include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, harassment and other related charges. She is facing a preliminary hearing on March 24th.
