Firefighters battled a massive multi-alarm barn fire early Saturday morning on Fredrick Road, in Taylor Township, Blair County.  The Freedom Township Volunteer Fire Company responded to the call around 2:30 facing difficult conditions due to high winds.  Reportedly, to bring the fire under control, tankers hauled over 40,000 gallons of water to the scene.  In a massive rescue effort, farm workers and firefighters saved all but one of the 600 plus cows in nearby barns threatened by the fire.  The animals were reportedly evacuated with the help pf neighbors using trailers, and moved to other local farms to continue dairy operations.  Its believed the fire started in a utility room of the main barn.  No humans were injured in the blaze.  (Above photo courtesy of Freedom Township Vol. Fire Co.)
