PA House Passes Bill To Protect Utility Consumers Regarding Data Centers

The Pennsylvania House has passed legislation aimed at protecting consumers from rising energy costs associated with the state’s growing data center industry.  House Bill 1834, introduced by Rep. Rob Matzie, chair of the House Majority Caucus, requires data centers to fund their own infrastructure costs and contribute to low-income energy assistance programs, rather than passing expenses to households.  The bill now heads to the state Senate for consideration.
