Somerset County Sheriff Dusty Weir’s defense attorney has filed a petition to dismiss a misdemeanor corruption of minors charge stemming from a December 2024 “Shop with a Cop” incident, arguing there is insufficient evidence to move forward. The filing contends that the brief, non-physical interaction at a Somerset Walmart does not meet the legal standard for the charge, ahead of a scheduled hearing on April 2. Weir is accused of leading a teenage girl to the condom section of Walmart where he allegedly made sexual comments, and tried to take her picture.
