An Altoona business owner, identified as 44-year-old John Tipton, has been jailed on charges of defrauding a customer through his company, Tipton Construction, and threatening her, following a disputed bathroom remodel. Police allege Tipton performed incomplete work, made unauthorized charges totaling $3,400, and threatened the victim after she contacted authorities regarding the missing funds and materials. Reportedly, local authorities are expanding their investigation as more residents come forward with allegations against Tipton. Tipton is facing charges that include receiving payment for services failed to perform, and other related counts. He has been placed in the Blair County Prison where bail has been set at $75,000. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 8th.
