It may not be the technical term for what the crew of Artemis 2 has planned for today, but suffice it to say the four astronauts hurtling through space inside their Orion capsule are in for quite a treat. They’ll be flying by the surface of the Moon today and setting the record for venturing deeper into space than humanity has ever been before. And they’re doing it all with a fully functioning toilet, thanks to the self-described “space plumber” – astronaut Christina Koch. Shortly after last Wednesday’s launch, the crew powered up the toilet, and it promptly broke down. Koch was able to get it flushing properly with some help from Mission Control.
