The Altoona Area School Board voted 6-3 last night to approve a preliminary 2026-27 budget featuring a 3% tax increase, raising the millage rate to 7.3003. This decision leaves the district with a projected $5.8 million deficit as officials wait on finalized state funding. The board also awarded a $540,000 contract for a proactive boiler replacement at the junior high school.
