Report: PA Minimum Wage Too Low Compared To Housing Costs

A new report suggests that the minimum wage in Pennsylvania is way lower than is needed to afford housing.  The National Low Income Housing Coalition’s most recent report shows that the average cost of a two-bedroom rental in Pennsylvania is over 14-hundred-dollars per month, meaning residents need to earn a minimum wage of 27-dollars and 83-cents to afford housing.  That’s nearly four-times the current minimum wage of seven-dollars and 25-cents per hour.  The report underscores the challenges faced by low-income renters in Pennsylvania and the urgent need for higher wages to address the affordability crisis.
