Television news reports suggest that a large number of riders turned out this year for the annual fund raiser. The effort is to raise money for veterans and the James E. Van Zandt VA hospital in Altoona. One event organizer estimates that more than 400 riders may have taken part. The bikers group reportedly has raised more than $211,000 for veterans this year, and that was before yesterdays ride. One news report estimated that an additional $40,000 may have been raised with the annual ride. A 4th of July picnic was held at the American Legion in Tyrone after the event.
